Community Life
PARENT INVOVEMENT
LGA is fortunate to have an active and social parent community, and all parents are encouraged to become involved in ways that feel meaningful to them. The PTO is one group that facilitates parent involvement with a variety of activities, such as library assistance, recruiting class parents, coordinating helpers for social events, and helping teachers with holiday celebrations. Parents are encouraged to join the camaraderie of the PTO, however many choose to volunteer on their own. Parents often come by to assist teachers or staff, share skills in the classrooms, or by offering professional services to the school in real or advisory ways.
ALL-SCHOOL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The welcoming nature of the community at LGA is a core reason why students, staff, parents, and friends enjoy their involvement with the school. Community building events help to promote this and other core values at the school. The lunch-buddy and reading-buddy programs help to socialize students across the grades, while all-school activities such as Monday Morning Sing and All-School Kabbalat Shabbat bring families and friends together regularly. The PTO also coordinates social activities for families, such as the Fall Mike's Maze Outing, December Ice Cream Social, Winter Skating Party, and the End-of-the-year Talent Show and Potluck.
